Winter in Mongolia is no joke and is a harsh season for animals and people. However, it is possible to travel to Mongolia during the winter with serious precautions and suitable equipment.
You will be able to appreciate the beauty of the wild nature frozen in its white coat, and the warm welcome of the nomadic families always happy to receive visitors in this season when they remain stuck in their winter camp.

9 days - Ulanbator - South Gobi - Ulanbator
Visit the coldest capital in the world, and experience the reality of nomadic life in the Gobi Desert during the harshest time of winter. You will help the nomads and their animals in their winter life.

You will travel through the vast territory of the Gobi Desert immersed in winter, marvelous landscapes of rocky mountains, sand dunes, and endless steppes.
And you will share the daily life of a nomadic family, taking care of the camels and other animals, such as milking the camels and preparing dairy products (airag), escorting them to the pastures, making them drink at the wells, and you can also admire the camel peak.

Discover two faces of Mongolia in winter: the taiga and the immense frozen lake of Khovsgol to the north, and to the south the Gobi desert frozen in the long winter where your nomadic hosts will be delighted to welcome you.

Near Lake Khovsgol every year the local population organizes the ice festival. On the program of many winter activities and competitions (Sumo on ice, ice skating, sleds, ice sculpture, etc.) This festival is also a shaman ceremony, an open door to the Tsataan culture.

Then you will leave for the Gobi desert, by train, to meet nomadic families. We will also offer you a discovery of the capital to meet local craftsmen.

Meeting with nomadic families along the road, discovery of the Gobi and participation in the camel festival
Organized by a local association that tries to protect the Mongolian camel, this festival allows you to discover the life of camel breeders and these animals. On the program: camel race, competition for the most beautiful camels, traditional Mongolian music and songs, dancers, camel wool and products on display, camel polo.
